The Grasp for Light
they came in thousands
candles flicker in the dark
walked in solemn dignity
hearts filled of deep despair
the wind is mellow
cold is the night
some in warm coats
others in thin clothes
proud and hungry people
of gathered stranded people
this night we are not alone
we are united in a dream
some lit another cigarette
some turned his pocket inside out
some laughter fighting salty tears
what more evil can they do to us
we have nothing more to lose
all we need is this moment
now and here
we are all one ~ no more apart
we will promise
no more deadly games

in the shadows I can see
a child's face turned up to me
reached out he touched my heart
firmly he grasped my hand
searching for the light
the child is blind
